I’m a recent homeowner as of the spring of 2018. The process for buying my first home was very exhausting but truly rewarding after the fact. I had a great realtor who was extremely patient. I pride myself in knowing what I want and going after it. However, purchasing a home as a single person in the DMV (DC/Maryland/Virginia) area was challenging and I learned you have to be flexible. I was only interested in one county and had several non negotiable’s on my checklist at the beginning of the process.

After 5 months of house hunting - I ended up purchasing a home in a county in which I was not originally interested. With a little love and a touch of style, my home is quite comfy and I’m enjoying hosting friends and family during the holidays.

In November, I held a small Friendsgiving. One of my coworkers who happens to be a great event planner helped me come up with a theme, decorations, and menu. Some of the items we purchased from Home Goods ended up staying until after Thanksgiving.

I decided to head to Lowe’s to purchase my Christmas decorations. I was torn between purchasing a live Christmas tree and an artificial one. It became clear when I got to the store that it would be hard for me to get the live Christmas tree off my car and in my home by myself. I purchased a center piece for the table, a wreath, poinsettia and an artificial tree for under $100. The last item I plan to purchase is a mistletoe which I will hang on the ceiling of my second staircase. Now wouldn't it be nice if a male suitor came to one of my holiday functions and we were stuck under the mistletoe?

Here is to a happy holiday and prosperous New Year!
